ROCK AND ICE CLIMBING GLENCOE

Glencoe is absolutely wonderful for climbers – it has world class routes, winter and summer. It is a truly magnificent place for Scottish climbing.

Buchaille Etive Mor This wonderful Argyll Munro emerges as you cross Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe. There are literally hundreds of climbs here, many of which are absolute classics. No easy ways on to the ridge or off it. Winter climbing very difficult high up, and there have been many fatalities here some through exposure.

Aonach Eagach ridge People say this is the finest ridge on the mainland.  It is a sensational enough scramble in the summer but a major winter expedition. You get committed to the route and there are exposed but not difficult sections. There is really no escape once you are on the ridge.  In summer no rope is needed.
